A Danish architectural firm is taking a well-known method of energy storage and applying it to renewable energy, turning unused land surrounded by water into Green Power Islands.

20 collegiate teams from all over the world will compete in the U.S. Department of Energy’s 2011 Solar Decathlon. The teams design, build and operate energy-efficient, solar-powered homes that are attractive and affordable.

U.S. utilities increased their spending on energy efficiency programs by 43% in 2009, according to a new report from the nonprofit Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE), which represents energy efficiency program administrators from across the United States and Canada.
