In Britain, the wind industry and the government have worked out a deal to eliminate the Ministry of Defence's objections to the development of five offshore wind farms.
The five wind farms, with an estimated 3-gigawatts of power capacity, are proposed for construction off the east coast of England in the Great Wash.
Earlier this year, the United Kingdom passed feed-in tariff guarantees for owners of small-scale renewable energy systems -- 5-megawatts or less. However, one of the factors the scale of rebate is dependent on is when the system was installed, which has left more than a few Britons irked.
