Carlos Ghosn the head of the Renault-Nissan Alliance says no other car manufacturer is better prepared to tap the electric car market than Nissan (OTC:NSANY).

 

Opel, the ailing European unit of General Motors, is considering launching an electric car designed for city use.

"We are thinking about a small electric vehicle," Nick Reilly the president of General Motors Europe told Germany's Bild am Sonntag newspaper. 

Coda Automotive will release its all-electric sedan in the fourth-quarter of 2010.

 

The first Coda vehicles will be released in California, which makes sense considering the company is based out of Santa Monica, California.

Reva Electric Car Co., the Bangalore, Indian-based automaker developing an electric vehicle with General Motors Co., is planning to establish four overseas automaking ventures that could be generate profits while building as few as 5,000 to 10,000 vehicles a year.

After debuting an electric vehicle (EV) concept car at the Detroit Auto Show, BMW made an even more concrete commitment to developing electric cars, when it decided to use its Leipzig production facility to develop EVs.

 

Google, Inc. (Nasdaq:GOOG) has been one of the biggest corporate investors in clean energy.  The internet-giant is a major energy user; so, reducing energy consumption is good for Google's profit margins, while eliminating its carbon footprint is great for its public image.
