solar incentive
For years one of the biggest deterrents for consumers and power companies to implement solar generating systems has been cost. Coupled with lack of information or streamlined infrastructure, for many, the hassle and money have outweighed the benefits of tapping the sun's energy. In the United States this is beginning to change.
On February 17, 2011 Xcel Energy, Inc. (NYSE: XEL), Colorado’s largest investor-owned utility, announced that it was suspending the solar energy incentive application process and cutting the associated rebate.
The Solar Energy Industries Association has released a report that predicts global solar energy capacity to reach 980 GW by 2020.
