Massachusetts Entrusts EnerNOC Software Systems to Reduce State Energy Use

Energy-management company, EnerNOC (Nasdaq: ENOC)has been awarded a US$10 million contract in Massachusetts.
EnerNOC's Enterprise Energy Management System contract with the Bay State is a big one -- it accounts for nearly 20% of the funding that Massachusetts received from the Department of Energy under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
EnerNOC will track energy consumption through the use of three energy management software applications: SiteSMART, SupplySMART, and CarbonSMART. Using these applications, EnerNOC will manage more than 17 million square feet of space across 470 properties.
These software applications allow building managers to see energy usage in real time, as well as be alerted to unexpected patterns of consumption. After a period of time, the applications will offer recommendations to increase energy efficiency.
Through this new energy management program the state expects to see energy savings of between 5 and 15 percent.
Tim Healy, CEO and Chairman of EnerNOC, said: "Massachusetts spends over $200 million on energy every year. Leveraging EnerNOC's application-driven approach is a cost-effective way to deliver substantial energy savings year after year, making an immediate impact on the Massachusetts economy."
