Part I of Q & A With Scientific Conservation's CEO Russ McMeekin: "Improving Sustainability & Energy Efficiency"

In the first of my three-part interview with CEO Russ McMeekin of Scientific Conservation Inc. (SCI), McMeekin discusses his background, the mission of SCI and the Regenerative Network.
ROBERT GLUCK: What is your background and how did you arrive at Scientific Conservation Inc. (SCI)?
RUSS MCMEEKIN: Prior to joining SCI, I was the President, Chief Executive Officer and Board member of Progressive Gaming International, a gaming management systems provider who pioneered the use of RFID in poker chips for the casino gaming industry worldwide.
Prior to that I was the President and Chief Executive Officer of ViaFone, Inc., a private venture funded wireless enterprise software company.
Most closely aligned with the built industry was my time at Honeywell International for 11 years where I served in a host of capacities: President of e-business which oversaw Myplant (serving the industrial community), Myfacilities (serving the commercial building industry) and MyAircraft a venture with Honeywell, I2 and BF Goodrich. President and General Manager of Honeywell's Hi-Spec Solutions business unit - similar to SCI's neural network technology, Hi-Spec Solutions used complex mathematical models to control and optimize industrial plants that required mission critical advanced control. I also have a strong professional relationship of over a decade with our primary investor, Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ).
RG: What is the mission of SCI ?
RM: Scientific Conservation Inc. (SCI) is dedicated to optimizing energy efficiency and money savings through the deployment of advanced automated continuous commissioning solutions for commercial buildings.
RG: On April 22, 2010, Scientific Conservation announced that David Gottfried joined SCI as a strategic advisor. What does Mr. Gottfried bring to the table?
RM: David is one of the most respected leaders in the Green Building Sector - his expertise and network are invaluable to us.
RG: On that same date, SCI also announced it became a Founding Member of the U.S. Regenerative Network. Please tell our readers a little about the Network.
RM: As one of the founding members of the US Regenerative Network, our goal is to assist our fellow, established and venture-backed Cleantech green building members to share best practices, benchmark and improve the sustainability of their companies. It's also a group dedicated to staying at the forefront of the cleantech green movement.
