Scotland Poised for Economic Growth Through Renewable Energy

The Scottish government recently announced that it would aid in the creation of 22,000 new green jobs in the next four years.

The jobs will span manufacturing, scientific research, and innovation in both the renewable energy and carbon industries.

Scotland is vying for recognition as an international hub for advancements in renewable energy.  The country believes that by 2020 it will be able to produce an additional 130,000 green jobs as well as position itself as a global hub for engineering and research.

Lately, Glasgow has been the head of the class compared to the rest of the United Kingdom in both the wind and tidal energy sectors attracting international players like Gamesa (MCE: GAM.MC), Mitsubishi, and Iberdrola (MCE: IBR.MC) -- all of which have set up shop in the country’s capitol for research and development, and manufacturing.

And with serious talk of private and industry funding getting ready to hand over one hundred million pounds to Strathclyde University in Glasgow to promote it as a world leader in energy research, Scotland’s commitment to renewable energy innovation will likely play a huge part in the economic recovery for a nation emerging from challenging times.
