Americans are Ready for Clean Energy, Are the Politicians?

A new poll released by the Pew Research Center shows Americans overwhelmingly support energy legislation that promotes renewable energy and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.

 

Here are the poll's results:

  • 87% of Americans support requiring utilities to generate more energy from renewable sources.
  • 78% support comprehensive energy legislation that includes stricter standards for energy efficiency.
  • 66% support putting limits on carbon dioxide and greenhouse gas emissions.

Despite the rousing voices of the American public and President Obama, clean energy policy is still languishing in the Senate. 

The latest proposal, the American Power Act, continues to be watered down as its authors, Senators John Kerry and Joe Lieberman, try to find support for the bill.
